GALLERY

Louvre-Lens, France

Invited competition - Shortlisted

In the unique location of the Louvre Lens, the landscape has been deeply marked by the mining industry. The project Gallery chooses to offer a place for interpretation while offering multiple uses. Between the Gallery of Time and the Mine Gallery, the structure chooses a language imbued with the history of the site, in dialogue with the landscape, the museum and the users. The construction takes place in the middle of the south terrace, sheltered by trees and opening up perspectives on the slag heaps. As a place for culture and memory, the parc has became a leisure area for the inhabitants, this installation chooses a certain neutrality of use by offering a dialogue between vernacular and industrial aesthetics.
